Pupils Triumph in County Gymnastics Competition

We are incredibly proud of our gymnastics teams, many of which represented North West Leicestershire in the recent Rise Schools Competition, where they competed against the top young gymnasts from ten districts across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Having won their respective categories in the North West Leicestershire qualifying event in February, the school had three teams in the county finals: Level One, Level Two and Level Four. The Level One squad emerged victorious in their category, while Level Two and Level Four secured third and fourth places respectively.

The competition, held at Oakham Gymnastics Club and organised by British Gymnastics, allowed children to showcase their skills across various disciplines. These included floor routines, small apparatus (ball, hoop, rope or ribbon) and large apparatus (vault, bench or bar). Points were awarded for each skill performed.

This marks the second consecutive year that Broom Leys has represented North West Leicestershire in the county finals. The continued success of the school's gymnastics teams is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the pupils, guided by Sports Coach Leah Smith. The children spend countless hours practising during lunchtimes and after-school clubs.

Headteacher Mr Prior expressed his pride, saying, “We are incredibly proud of our gymnasts for their dedication, hard work and outstanding achievements at both the regional and county levels.

"Their success is a testament to their perseverance and the fantastic support from our Sports Coach, Miss Smith, and the wider school community.

"This is another special moment for Broom Leys, and we look forward to seeing our pupils continue to excel in sport.”
