A magical school trip

In early December, our young Broom Leys wizards hopped aboard their broomsticks and soared down to London, where they spent the day exploring The Making of Harry Potter at Warner Bros. Studios.

Having studied Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in their English lessons, pupils were given the unique opportunity to step inside the magical and fictitious world created by acclaimed author J.K. Rowling.

Following in the footsteps of Harry, Ron and Hermione, pupils explored some of the film’s most iconic sets; they ventured out onto Platform 9¾, gazed in awe at the shops that lined Diagon Alley and took a look around Gringotts Bank and Professor Sprout’s Greenhouse. Those brave enough also ventured into the Forbidden Forest!

With their learning brought to life, pupils gained an insight into the world of cinema and deepened their understanding of the text, finding out just how one of the most successful film series was created.

As well as touring the sets, they saw many of the original film props and costumes, including Mr Weasley’s famous Ford Anglia and the triple-decker purple Knight Bus!

A fun and immersive experience and one that really brought learning to life.
